Good morning from the spectacular mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina. We wish to thank everyone for their messages of support and prayers yesterday.
The “DWR” bracelet sale marathon went extremely well! In fact, LeeAnn Kern, manager of Tommy’s Coffee Shop here in downtown Cashiers purchased a bracelet. She loves it’s message and wants to support Jake’s Mission by promoting it in their shop. If you ever find yourself in this beautiful mountain area, please stop in and partake of their delicious homemade muffins and phenomenal cappuccinos. You’re in for a treat!
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that the e-book chronicling Jacob’s difficult journey while at Duke Children’s Hospital is on-line. This project would not have materialized had it not been for Wojciech & Ayleen Kulicki. Their incredible talent, energy, passion and commitment amaze me. Thank you both for keeping this project on track when I was finding it too painful to revisit. As we discussed all those months ago, his story needed to be told, in a concise and easy to read format.
I hope Jacob’s Journey will inspire you in some way and give you a new appreciation for health, life, family and friends!

I sent the information to about 100 people on Thursday and Friday last week. I know a few more people from around WNC bought some to. I would love to meet you sometime, you must be an incredible lady. I read every single word you posted on Caringbridge. Your son must have been an amazing person and you have to know that he will continue to touch lives each and every day. He was blessed by God to have such an amazing mother. The post that you wrote “Say Jacob to Me” was the most touching thing I think I have ever read in my entire life. It made me think about things differently, in my own life, and how I deal with with people who have lost someone special to them. It made me realize that God only loans our kids to us and we have to cherish every single moment we have with them. Thank you for sharing this heartbreaking time in your life with others, so that we may wake up every day and never take advantage of what God has given and continues to give us. I feel so lucky to have been a small part of Jakes Mission.

Dear Dan, Janet and Jon,
You have been in my thoughts all week. Alexia and I talked this week about the time we all were in Orlando and the time she spent with Joy, Jake and little Jon.
We keep you in our thoughts and prayers. It may be hard at times to look back, and even harder to look forward, so just look beside you and you will find many people that love and admire you …..your journey will not be alone.
May you find comfort in the many memories of special times with Jake…..God Bless You.
